Porsche’s Lotterer and Jani to continue in WEC alongside FE

Andre Lotterer and Neel Jani are expected to continue in the World Endurance Championship alongside their Formula E duties.

The duo, who have raced for Porsche in WEC since 2014, will switch to Rebellion Racing for the 2018-19 “superseason” as Porsche leaves the championship.

Both have previously raced with the Swiss team, who will be returning to LMP1 after securing the LMP2 title this season.

A number of drivers have run duel FE-WEC campaigns throughout FE’s short history, including champions Nelson Piquet, Sebastien Buemi, and Lucas di Grassi.

Last year, a clash between the 6 Hours of Nurburgring and the New York ePrix meant many drivers missed the double header, including Buemi.

Though there are no WEC clashes with Formula E next year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place just a week after the Zurich ePrix.

New comers Gustavo Menezes and Thomas Laurent will join Lotterer and Jani at the team, alongside ex-Mahindra racer Bruno Senna and Mathias Beche.

Renault’s Nico Prost, who has raced for the team in WEC and ELMS since 2009, will not remain at Rebellion in 2018.
