DS Virgin Racing goes carbon neutral on another step towards sustainability

Taking another step towards a more sustainable future, DS Virgin Racing announced they will become carbon neutral, on a collaboration with The Carbon Trust.

The British team, which has been involved in Formula E since Season 1, has always been one of the leading teams when promoting sustainable mobility.

The new venture, which comes on Earth Day, will see the team implementing a carbon reduction strategy, which will lead to the Silverstone-based outfit to be certified as carbon neutral.

Along with The Carbon Trust, an independent partner which works on the reduction of carbon around the globe, the team aims to reach another goal in the race towards a greener world.

“Being a motorsport team, we face concerns about the amount of carbon we produce in order to go racing. However, thanks to the Carbon Trust, we can be reassured that we are offsetting this and helping to play our part in tackling climate change”, commented Team Boss Alex Tai.

“The team has always been committed to sustainability, in line with our purpose to ‘power innovation to positively impact lives’, and this new announcement just goes to demonstrate that. It will also underpin our Race Against Climate Change programme, which seeks to accelerate initiatives that help the world achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Accord”, added Tai.

The Race Against Climate Change is another initiative launched by DS Virgin Racing, Sir Richard Branson, The Virgin Group, and The Rocky Mountain institute. This project was introduced to the world during the Hong Kong ePrix weekend.

Following the announcement of the collaboration with The Carbon Trust, Tom Delay, its Chief Executive, expressed his enthusiasm: “DS Virgin Racing’s efforts to become carbon neutral shows the team’s desire to match sustainability leadership with a leading position on the track.

“Focusing on what action can be taken within the team’s own operations is a great first step, however critically there is also huge potential for the team to leverage its high-profile status to influence others”.
