Di Grassi tops second practice session as Piquet crashes again

Reigning Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi topped the timesheets in the second free practice session for the Paris ePrix.

The Audi Sport ABT Shaeffler driver was two tenths clear of championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne who finished second.

Di Grassi’s time of 1:00.861 is a new track record for the Circuit Des Invalides.

Jaguar’s Mitch Evans finished the session in third place, 0.210seconds behind di Grassi, with Mahindra’s Felix Rosenqvist finishing fourth. He had previously gone fastest while oversteering through the penultimate corner.

Daniel Abt was fifth with Oliver Turvey and Sam Bird finishing in sixth and seventh respectively.

There was half-a-second separating the top seven drivers in the session.

Nelson Piquet finished in eighth place despite suffering a second crash of the day in the second practice session.

Jaguar driver Piquet locked up and ran wide at Turn 5 and hit the wall, damaging his front left corner of his second car – although the damage was less than on his first car after this accident in the first practice session.

Sebastien Buemi finished in ninth place, ahead of Andre Lotterer, Alex Lynn and Edoardo Mortara.

Mortara’s Venturi team-mate, Maro Engel, was 13th with Nico Prost, Jose Maria Lopez, Antonio Felix da Costa, Jerome d’Ambrosio, Nick Heidfeld, Tom Blomqvist and series returnee Ma Qing Hua rounding out the order.
