Lynn looks forward to Zürich after frustrating Berlin ePrix

An issue in the early stages of the race, stopped DS Virgin Racing’s Alex Lynn from achieving a good result in Berlin. The Brit now looks forward to turn the tables in Zürich next month.

Alex Lynn’s weekend in Berlin was going rather well with good pace being shown during both practice session as well as out-qualifying his DS Virgin Racing teammate Sam Bird.

However, it all went slightly awry in the race with the young Brit going down the field rapidly with Lynn confirming it was an issue with the car which caused the problem.

“We just had a bit of a, how would I describe it, just a little bit of a bung function issue which lead to being on the wrong energy setting to begin the race”, he explained.

“So once that was fixed after five laps, we were then absolutely fine but unfortunately, the damage was already done early in the race, which was frustrating.”

With the next round in Zurich being new to the series as well as the first since motorsport was banned on Swiss soil following the 1955 Le Mans 24 hours, Lynn hopes the team’s preparation would stand them in good stead.

“I think we’re all really excited to get there and form our side, we’re going to put in a lot of preparation and hopefully we can prepare better than our rivals and get a good result.”

The 24-year-old also thinks the fact that Zürich is a new venue for Formula E could equalise things compared to Berlin where Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler’s Daniel Abt became the first driver in series history to complete the grand slam of pole position, fastest lap, leading every lap and winning the race.

“I think, obviously, we saw a lot of Audi dominance today. It’s a bit of a shame it wasn’t more of a race but obviously, great for them to get a home win”, he congratulated the winning Audi team after their second victory of the season.

Lynn goes to Zürich, aiming to end with his bad luck steak, and score points which could help him and his championship on the standings.
