Driot’s sons take over Nissan team principal duties

Jean-Paul Driot’s sons Gregory and Olivier will take over team principal duties at Nissan e.dams following their father’s death earlier this year.

The pair, who have already taken over the DAMS Formula 2 outfit, aim to continue “with the same fighting spirit” of their father.

Driot founded e.dams with Alain Prost ahead of Formula E’s inaugural season. The team initially partnered with Renault, winning three teams’ championships with the French manufacturer, before switching the Renault’s stablemate Nissan for the 2018-19 season.

The 68-year-old passed away in August after a lengthy battle with illness.

“It’s been a very busy off-season,” said Gregory Driot.

“Olivier and I are heading into season six with a heavy heart that our team founder and father Jean-Paul is no longer with us, but the entire team is ready to continue with the same fighting spirit with which he created e.dams.”

Nissan e.dams will field Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland for a second consecutive season. It will run a testing livery for the Valencia pre-season test before revealing its 2019-20 livery at an event in Japan later this month.
