Riviere claims maiden Andros e-Trophy pole

Benjamin Riviere claimed his first pole in his first Andros e-Trophy Super Pole appearance of the season.

The Peugeot driver will start alongside championship contender Aurelien Panis in the first race at Lans en Vercors.

Riviere topped the second qualifying heat to put him top of the order ahead of the Super Pole session.

It was Panis, who topped the first qualifying heat, who was fastest in the final session, his 46.989s lap 1.3s quicker than the next fastest driver. But fourth, and 1.4s slower than Panis, was enough to secure Riviere’s place at the front of the grid.

Championship leader Jean-Baptiste Dubourg had a difficult Super Pole Session. The Renault driver qualified second quickest in the first qualifying heat, putting him fourth overall ahead of the final session. But Dubourg couldn’t put the lap together in Super Pole, and his 48.538s time put him bottom of the order.

He starts this evening’s race from the back of the grid, just behind Nathaneal Berthon.

Andreas Bakkerud will start third ahead of Nico Prost, who was second quickest in Super Pole.

Outside the top six, Franck Lagorce leads the way, ahead of Yann Ehrlacher.

Olivier Panis and Quentin Giordano complete the top 10.
