Sette Camara replaces Hartley at Dragon Racing

Dragon Racing test and reserve driver Sergio Sette Camara will replace Brendon Hartley for the six Berlin E-Prix in August.

The World Endurance Champion confirmed he was leaving the team last week.

Sette Camara, who has run with the team in the Marrakesh rookie test, will make the step up, ahead of fellow test and reserve driver Joel Eriksson.

“The team and I had really strong chemistry in the Marrakesh rookie test,” he said. “We executed the program and performed well, finishing the day P2.

“I am delighted to share the news that I will work with them again, this time in a race situation, which makes it even more special. I want to thank Jay Penske and every member of Geox Dragon Racing for giving me this opportunity.”

Sette Camara joins Nico Mueller at the team. So far this season, Dragon has only scored two points, after a P9 finish for Hartley in the second round of the championship.

Despite this, team principal Jay Penske is optimistic his newest driver can challenge in the top half of the field.

“I have been impressed with Sergio on track in Marrakesh, and in his work in the simulator with our engineers to continue to push the development of the PENSKE EV-4 package,” Penske said.

“I look forward to seeing him on track in Berlin, and I full expect him to challenge for points in his first races with the team.”

Sette Camara has spent 2020 so far as test and reserve driver for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri in Formula 1, attending races in this capacity. The move to an FE race seat means he won’t be on hand for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, which takes place on the same weekend as the second Berlin double header. He will also likely miss the British GP and Spanish GP, which take place on the weekends before and after the Berlin races.
