Berthon victorious as Dubourg extends championship lead

Nathaneal Berthon claims his first Andros eTrophy victory of the season in the second race of the weekend at Serre Chevalier.

The Peugeot driver jumps up to fourth in the championship standings, as Jean-Baptiste Dubourg extends his lead at the top of the order.

After a dominant qualifying performance, Berthon continued to show strong pace in the race. He initially had the Renault duo of Dubourg and Nico Prost to contend with, but soon began to build a gap to the pair.

By the end of the race he was almost three seconds ahead of Dubourg, who had himself gapped his team-mate.

Further back, a poor start for Franck Lagorce meant Yann Ehrlacher and Quientin Giordano were able to make it three wide off the line. Ehrlacher managed to get his nose ahead by the end of the opening lap, snatching fourth and quickly leaving Lagorce to battle with Giordano. However, he couldn’t close the gap to Prost ahead and had to settle for P4.

Lagorce managed to shake Giordano to take P5.

After a difficult qualifying session, Aurelien Panis was left to battle for a victory in the second of the two finals. The reigning champion started on pole and managed to retain the lead, but wouldn’t have quite as smooth a race as Berthon.

He finished less than 2 seconds ahead of Julien Febreau as the Audi driver closed the gap in the closing stages of the race.

Benjamin Riviere took third as Louis Gervoson made up for a difficult qualifying to take fourth.

Olivier Pernaut and Christophe Ferrier completed the order.
