Andrea PerilliLucas di Grassi won an eventful second E-Prix in London and prevented Jake Dennis from sweeping both races.
The Brazilian had a strong pace throughout the race which allowed him to go for the lead of the race and maintain it until the chequered flag was waved.
The Venturi driver had started the race from P2 and ever since the red lights went out at the start of the race, pushed hard to pass poleman Dennis. Di Grassi could overtake him and despite Dennis fighting back with Attack Mode to regain his position, the Brazilian kept a strong lead which gave him the victory.
Dennis ultimately finished in second position, finishing a weekend with two poles, a win, and a podium finish.
Reigning champion Nyck de Vries finished in third place. The Dutchman kept moving up places throughout the race and ultimately scored a podium finish.
Behind him came teammate Stoffel Vandoorne, who is one step closer to taking the Drivers’ Championship in the upcoming E-Prix in Seoul.
Antonio Felix da Costa completed the top five. He was followed by Sebastien Buemi, Robin Frijns, Sam Bird, Sergio Sette-Camara –who scored key points for Dragon, and Pascal Wehrlein completing the top ten.
It was an eventful race from lap one. The first incident came when Oliver Rowland crashed into the back of Oliver Askew’s car, causing the Brit’s car to be damaged and retire from the race.
Jean-Eric Vergne retired early into the race following damage sustained in a collision on the opening lap, an action which cut short his title hopes.
Mitch Evans also went wide and eventually had his race cut short due to a mechanical issue. This meant that his title chances got further as he could not shorten the points distance to Stoffel Vandoorne.
Antonio Giovinazzi run third in the early stages of the race of what looked like a promising day for Dragon, but a drive-through penalty cost the Italian his place and important points. The Dragon driver ended up retiring from the race. Askew and Dan Ticktum also could not finish.
