Vandoorne goes fastest in Seoul FP1

Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne topped the times in the first free practice session of the Seoul E-Prix.  

In a session with no major incidents, Vandoorne was able to climb up to the top the standings in the last minutes of the session. The Belgian starts the weekend with the right foot as he steps closer to the title. 

Edoardo Mortara finished in second place, 0.013 seconds away from Vandoorne, who set a lap time of 1m 22.000s. In third place finished Nick Cassidy, who did a fast lap in the last seconds of the sessions but ultimately finished in P3. 

The top five was completed by Lucas di Grassi and Jean Eric Vergne. The latter had dominated the session on its early stages with a strong pace. 

Reigning champion Nyck de Vries finished in sixth place, followed by Jake Dennis –who arrives in Seoul after a strong London E-Prix and Pascal Wehrlein, who had been dominant in the session but ultimately fell places in the standings. 

The top ten was completed by Maximilian Guenther and Norman Nato, who is making his Formula E comeback this weekend. 

Mitch Evans, who sits second in the championship, did not have an easy session and finished in P15. The Kiwi’s car did a slide that cost him time as FP1 was coming to an end.
