CBMM Niobium becomes title sponsor in Punta and Rome

Formula E announced today that Brazilian mining company CBMM Niobium will be title sponsor in the Punta del Este and Rome rounds, to be held in March and April, respectively.

CBMM (which stands for Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração), is a Brazilian metallurgy and mining company, which works with Niobium, a chemical element that has a series of technologies derived from it, used in the automotive industry.

Through this partnership, the Brazilian entity aims to further its involvement in the EV market in order to work in the creation of a more sustainable future.

“The championship has been a successful platform for CBMM to improve awareness of Niobium technology and enable knowledge sharing about new applications to address complex challenges”, expressed Eduardo Ribeiro, CEO of CBMM Niobium.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, highlighted “The importance of implementing technologies such as Niobium is crucial to the continual development in the automotive sector and the push for electrification, especially as the demand for producing battery and electric motor components accelerates further.

“We’re pleased to again welcome CBMM and help expand the awareness of Niobium technologies to the world through its involvement in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship”.

CBMM Niobium will be the title sponsor for the Punta del Este ePrix next March 17th on the Uruguayan city’s comeback to the calendar; as well as being the title sponsor for the first ever Rome ePrix, as the ‘Eternal City’ will be the first of four European races Season 4 will have.

“Through the Niobium Materials Technology Project, we partner with automotive OEMs and suppliers. Together we develop and commercialise advanced technologies in areas including lightweighting, safety, emissions reduction, batteries and electronics that will drive the transformation of the automotive sector. Formula E provides a fantastic opportunity to support this objective”, concluded Maros Stuart, CTO of CBMM Niobium.
