Mercedes EQ Formula E Team announced for Season 6

After confirming their arrival to the series, German manufacturer Mercedes have now announced more details about their entry in Season 6.

Through the Formula 1 team’s Twitter account, Mercedes have online kicked off their Formula E effort.

The German marque will be known as Mercedes EQ Formula E Team when they join the grid full-time in Season 6, along with fellow German brand Porsche.

It has also been confirmed that Mercedes AMG HPP will work on the construction of the car, whereas HWA AG “will carry out trackside operations”, as announced by the team on their official Twitter account.

“The combined know-how of the Mercedes family at Affalterbach, Brixworth, and Brackley provides the perfect foundations for our new Mercedes EQ Formula E Team”, expressed Toto Wolff, one of the first involved in the Silver Arrows’ Formula E venture when the news came out.

“Formula E is a unique series with some very specific challenges for its teams. We know the level of competition is extremely high and we will approach the challenge with energy and humility”.

Following Mercedes’ entry in the fully-electric championship, the brand decided to call time on their DTM programme, to focus on their electric racing efforts.

By Season 6, four German manufacturers will be racing full-time in the series, which is a significant milestone in Formula E’s history.
