Antonio Felix da Costa was the early pacesetter on day 2 of Pre-Season testing at Valencia with the BMW I Andretti Motorsport driver setting the fastest lap of the week so far with a 1m16.977s.
This was also the first session in which the new attack mode function was active so the drivers could give feedback to the series.
The reigning champion, Jean-Eric Vergne was second fastest for DS Techeetah with Jerome d’Ambrosio third fastest for Mahindra Racing.
Season Three champion Lucas di Grassi was fourth fastest for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler as Venturi’s Felipe Massa just edged out teammate Edoardo Mortara to make it 5 manufactures in the top 5.
Pascal Wehrlein was seventh fastest in the second of the Mahindra entries ahead of Dragon Racing’s Jose Maria Lopez and Andre Lotterer in the second DS Techeetah.
Daniel Abt rounded out the top 10 for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler whilst BMW’s Alex sims was eleventh ahead of Mitch Evans in the first of the Jaguars.
Stoffel Vandoorne was thirteenth for HWA Racelab as NIO’s Tom Dillmann pipped teammate Oliver Turvey to fourteenth by 0.004.
Robin Frijns was sixteenth fastest in what was a tough session for Virgin with Antonio Fuoco seventeenth fastest on his first time driving on track for Dragon Racing.
Garry Paffett was eighteenth fastest in the second HWA entry ahead of Sam Bird in the second of the Virgin Racing run Audi’s with Nelson Piquet twentieth fastest for Jaguar.
Nissan’s tumultuous time in testing continued as Sebastien Buemi was last of the twenty-one drivers to compete in the session and 3.7 seconds slower than Piquet.
The #22 Nissan was not allowed to run as the team hadn’t specified a driver for the car.
