BMW fastest as pre-season testing comes to a close

BMW i Andretti Motorsport were once again, the top of the tree in a heavily disrupted, final test session at Valencia with Alex Sims setting a 1m17.402s.

There were a total of four red flags caused by Oliver Rowland, Nelson Piquet, Jerome d’Ambrosio and Felipe Massa for Nissan, Jaguar, Mahindra and Venturi respectively.

Second fastest was Jean-Eric Vergne for DS Techeetah with Mitch Evans third quickest for Jaguar.

Pascal Wehrlein was fourth quickest for Mahindra ahead of Dragon Racing’s Max Gunther with Robin Frijns sixth fastest for Virgin Racing.

HWA’s Garry Paffett was seventh ahead of Sam Bird in the other Virgin Racing run Audi with Nissan’s Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi rounding out the top ten for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler.

Antonio Fuoco was 11th fastest in the second Dragon Racing entry ahead of Mahindra’s Jerome d’Ambrosio and Daniel Abt in the second of the Audis.

The NIO pairing of Tom Dillmann and Oliver Turvey were 14th and 15th fastest respectively ahead of Venturi’s Felipe Massa and HWA’s Dani Juncadella.

Oliver Rowland and Nelson Piquet had slightly disrupted sessions for Nissan and Jaguar respectively and were eighteenth and nineteenth fastest.

The field was rounded out by Techeetah’s Andre Lotterer in 20th and Antonio Felix da Costa in the second of the BMWs with Edoardo Mortara not setting a lap time during the session.
