Beltoise to join I-Pace field for Monaco

Anthony Beltoise will be the VIP driver for the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy for the Monaco round of the championship.

Beltoise, son of 1972 Monaco Grand Prix winner Jean-Pierre Beltoise, will drive the Jaguar I-Pace around the streets of Monaco.

It will be his first foray into electric racing when he competes although he did race in Championnat de France Formula Renault 2.0 in 1993.

He then raced in, and won, French GT and Porsche Carrera Cup France as well as taking a class podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000.

“Taking to the streets of Monaco is always a privilege and I’m eager to get on track and compete in my first ever electric race,” said Beltoise.

“I’m not quite sure what to expect having never raced in an electric vehicle, but the plan is definitely to move my way up the field during the race.

“It will be a special occasion for my family to follow in the tyre tracks of my father who won the Monaco GP in 1972. The level of competition in eTrophy is really high but I will definitely have my eyes on the podium.

“I’d like to thank Jaguar for the opportunity to compete in this innovative and history-making championship.”

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver Bryan Sellers leads the championship following his victory in Paris.

The Monaco round will be round seven of the Formula E support series and takes place on May 11 2019.
