Formula E reveals track layout for Seoul E-Prix

Formula E founder Alejandro Agag and event organisers for the 2020 Seoul E-Prix have revealed the official track layout for the first time.

The race, which was confirmed on the calendar following a World Motor Sport Council meeting, will use a 2.8 km circuit and consists of 19 turns, subject to FIA homologation.

Located in the city’s Olympic Park, a section of the track will be located within the Jamsil Sports Complex and Olympic Stadium.

Speaking during the official launch event in Seoul, Agag spoke of delight about the new race: “I’m so excited to be coming to Korea and the streets of Seoul for the first time with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship,”

“Seoul is such a vibrant and versatile city with sporting heritage and experience in hosting international events.”

“Formula E will be showcasing speed and performance at the former Olympic venue, using a unique track with a spectacular stadium section.”

Also at the launch event was Hee-Beom Lee, the Chairman of the Seoul E-Prix 2020 Racing Event Management, who spoke of the benefits the race would provide for South Korea.

“In addition to aiming the Formula E event in Korea by introducing eco-friendly automotive technology through a futuristic competition, this year’s event will also contribute the development of the domestic automotive industry by minimising environmental damage such as air pollution, and position the championship as the next-generation racing event,” he said.

The event in Seoul is the latest addition to a growing list of races taking place in Asia, joining the likes Ad-Diriyah and Hong Kong on the Formula E calendar.

Season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will feature 11 countries spread across four continents.
