Aurelien Panis on pole at Val Thorens

Aurelien Panis secured pole for the second Andros e-Trophy race of the weekend at Val Thornes.

The Audi driver topped the times in the qualifying heats and, though he only managed second quickest in the Super Pole session, his combined points were enough to put him at the front of the field.

The Andros e-Trophy qualifying is spilt into three stages, with the top three of two heats going through to the Super Pole session. Points are awarded in the heat stages, from 45 through to 32, with a bonus six points available in the Super Pole stage. The combined score determines the grids for the finals.

Panis, fourth out in the Super Pole stage, set a 46.487s time around the Van Thornes circuit, 0.249s quicker than the next fastest time.

He was knocked back down to second by Sebastien Loeb. Loeb, who only ran in one of the two heat stages, set a 46.205s time, earning six bonus points. As Loeb only finished fifth in the heat stages, he will only line up third on the final grid.

Panis will be joined on the front row of the grid by Renault’s Nico Prost, who finished third in the Super Pole.

Reigning champion Jean-Baptiste Dubourg took fourth, ahead of race one winner Yann Ehrlacher and Andrea Bakkerud.

Benjamin Riviere was the quickest driver not to make it through to the Super Pole. He finished seventh, ahead of Olivier Panis, Nathaneal Berthon, and Olivier Pernaut.
