A star-filled grid: Andretti outfit joins Extreme E

The Extreme E grid keeps getting bigger as Andretti Autosport have announced they are joining the off-road series in a partnership with British outfit United Autosports.

The prestige around the ‘Andretti’ name dates to decades ago, and when it comes to electric racing, the name linked to Formula E since the beginning having been one of the founding teams. Now they take another step in the electric journey, by joining the Extreme E grid.

Andretti join forces with Britain’s United Autosports under the name of Andretti United Extreme E. Team leaders are not short of recognition, and Michael Andretti will be pairing up with Zak Brown and Richard Dean in the electric off-road championship effort.

Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Extreme E, has acknowledged the new challenges the series represent for these two historical names: “Both teams have enjoyed huge success and bring incredible experiences to the table, but Extreme E offers a totally new challenge and will be their first joint electric racing collaboration”.

“We’ve had the opportunity to work together on various programs over the last few years, and this new adventure in Extreme E may be one of the most exciting opportunities to again come together. Both organisations have strong experience in diverse areas of motorsport and I’m confident our combined effort will be a contender from the start”, commented Michael Andretti.

Brown added that their squad “Have been looking at getting into electric racing for a while now and this new off-road championship looks fantastic. The creation of the new company gives both teams an equal partnership moving forward in the Extreme E series”.
