Vergne takes the first pole of the second double-header in Berlin

The second double header just started in Berlin; the Tempelhof circuit turns again in its traditional direction and the fight for the championship seems to reignite.

With just under two minutes to go to the end of the Quali for Group 1, it was Mitch Evans who went out on track first. The Kiwi driver had another disappointing performance, finishing almost 5 tenths behind Stoffel Vandoorne, who with a great lap was the fastest of the first group.

It was Jean-Eric Vergne, Maximilian Guenther, Andre Lotterer and Oliver Rowland, after a great performance from Group 2, who managed to be among the top 6.

In the end, after the 4 group sessions, the Superpole was made up of Vergne, Vandoorne, Alex Lynn, Robin Frijns, Jerome d’Ambrosio and Guenther, who would fight for pole position.

Unlike what had happened since the resumption of the championship, Antonio Felix da Costa qualified outside of super pole, in position 9. The DS Techeetah driver was looking to be the first driver in the category to achieve 4 pole positions in a row.

The final classification placed DS Techeetah driver Vergne in first place, with a time of 1m06.277s and a difference of 5 tenths over Guenther. D’Ambrosio took third place, while Vandoorne, Lynn and Frijns completed the super pole. It was a great job from Mahindra, who managed to place both of their drivers in the top 6.

Lotterer, de Vries, da Costa and Rowland round out the top 10.

The championship fight seems to have resumed – although da Costa won’t be easy to catch, taking his 68 point lead into account.
