Techeetah joins Extreme E

Teechetah will take part in the off-road electric racing series, Extreme E, representing Asia in the championship. 

Owned by the Indonesian Indover Group, the team will race under the Techeetah name and brand. The team’s base will be located in Indonesia and will aim to “make the people of Asia proud”, it said in an official statement.

With a successful record in Formula E, winning three Drivers’ Championships and two Teams’ Championships, they will debut in off-road electric racing the Odyssey 21 E-SUVs. 

Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of the series, already looks forward to the high-level of competition the championship will have.

“The sporting offering is turning heads, and the race for the inaugural title is already shaping up nicely. I’m looking forward to seeing rivalries reignited and fresh ones formed in a ground-breaking arena”, he commented. 

“Techeetah has achieved unrivaled success in recent seasons in Formula E so it is fantastic to be able to welcome them into our Extreme E family.”

Edmund Chu, president of Team Techeetah, expressed that “we are motivated by the challenge that Extreme E poses and are excited by the car, the race locations, and the race format”.
