Torres takes pole in Misano

Jordi Torres claimed his maiden MotoE pole position of the season with a 1m43.154s lap around the Misano circuit.

The lap was more than 0.4s quicker than last weekend’s pole position time, but slower than the 1m42s lap set by Eric Granado in free practice.

Championship rivals Matteo Ferrari and Dominique Aegerter line up alongside him on the front row of the grid.

Granado couldn’t match his strong free practice time. As the penultimate driver to set a lap time in the session, he could only put himself fourth quickest overall.

Andalusia podium finisher Mattia Casadei was set to qualify mid-way through the EPole session, but a transponder issue that had been plaguing him all weekend meant he returned to the pits without setting a lap time. Casadei was initially sent to the back of the grid, but allowed to run at the end of the qualifying session to try to set a lap time. He managed seventh quickest, behind Lukas Tulovic and Xavier Simeon, who qualified sixth and fifth respectively.

Mike Di Meglio, Niki Tuuli and Alejandro Medina completed the top 10.
