Carroll joins NIO 333 as reserve driver

Former Jaguar Racing driver Adam Carroll has joined NIO 333 as the team’s reserve driver.

NIO were one of the teams whose driver line-up was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic last season, as travel restrictions meant Ma Qinghua could not compete in the Berlin E-Prix.

Carroll will join regular drivers Oliver Turvey and Tom Blomqvist in Diriyah later this month. He has spent time in the simulator to prepare for the double header event.

“I am very happy to be joining NIO 333 FE Team as reserve driver,” he said. “Formula E is a fascinating championship to work in. It is extremely high level and technically complex. It has been interesting to see how the cars and systems have developed since I raced with the series in 2017, and the NIO 333 team is pushing very hard for the coming season. I look forward to the challenge ahead.”

“Not only is Adam a very talented racing driver, but he is also a good friend of the team,” said team principal Christian Silk

“The role of reserve driver is obviously very important to us and I am very grateful that we have such a safe pair of hands in this key position. I am sure I speak for the whole team when I say we are looking forward to working with Adam again.”

Carroll joined Jaguar Racing for the 2016-17 season, the first year the British manufacturer raced in the series. He took a best finish of eighth in Mexico, but spent most of the season outside the points.

Since then, Carroll competed in the Ferrari Challenge, earning a victory in the 2019 Finali Mondiali. He also had made a one-off appearance in the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy.
