Okubo goes fastest in Le Mans FP3

Hikari Okubo goes quickest in the final free practice session ahead of MotoE qualifying for the French Grand Prix.

The Avant Ajo MotoE driver jumped to the top of the order late in the session, hist 1m44.036s lap half a second quicker than the then next best rider.

Though lap times continued to fall for the rest of the field, none could go quicker than Okubo, who himself did not match the time set by Eric Granado in FP2.

Yonny Hernandez came closest to the Avant Ajo rider, getting to within 0.05s of Okubo’s time and ending the session second overall. Hernandez had briefly topped the order earlier on during a flurry of times in which the fastest lap swapped hands in a matter of seconds.

Mattia Casadei had knocked Hernandez off the top spot, only for himself to drop down the order as others found improvements. He ended the session sixth overall.

Granado picked up P3, ahead of Jordi Torres and Fermin Aldeguer, who had set the pace early in the session.

Dominique Aegerter took seventh, while championship leader Alessandro Zaccone could only manage eighth.

Lukas Tulovic and Matteo Ferrari completed the top 10.
