Salvador Duran joins NIO as reserve driver

Salvador Duran is making a return to Formula E after NIO confirmed him as the team’s reserve driver for the Puebla races.

The Mexican driver, has previous Formula E experience, having raced for Aguri in the series’ first season. Duran had signed to Trulli ahead of Season 2, but the Italian team ultimately quit the championship.

His best result in the fully-electric championship is a sixth place finish at the Moscow E-Prix.

In season two, Duran had on and off appearances, having last raced in the series for Aguri at the 2016 Long Beach E-Prix, where he finished in 14th place.

He also raced in the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy as a guest driver in the VIP Car, where he had to retire from the race he participated in.

He would fill in for NIO’s regular drivers, Oliver Turvey and Tom Blomqvist should anything befall them in Puebla and Santiago.
