Torres clinches E-Pole ahead of San Marino season finale

Reigning champion Jordi Torres set pole position ahead of the first round of the San Marino season finale.

The Spaniard set a time of 1m 43.265s to go on top of the standings and qualify in first place ahead of today’s race. He currently sits in third place in the championship standings and is in contention to take the title for the second consecutive time.

Just 0.229 seconds behind him finished Eric Granado, one of this season’s favourites to take the title. The Brazilian had dominated yesterday’s free practice sessions and looked strong during his qualifying stint, but a loss of time in the third sector on the track put him behind poleman Torres.

Alessandro Zaccone, current championship leader, completes the starting first row. He had a 0.320-second gap to Torres and will definitely be in the fight to grab important points during the race to extend his lead.

Mattia Casadei, Dominique Aegerter, and Matteo Ferrari complete the second row; while Fermin Aldeguer, Miquel Pons, and Kevin Zannoni will start from the third row.
