Berthon takes first Andros win of the season

Nathanael Berthon held off Aurelien Panis to win the opening Andros eTrophy race of the weekend at Isola 2000.

Berthon led the six lap encounter from start to finish, but was kept under pressure from Panis throughout the race.

The pair were separated by just a few tenths of a second midway through the race, but Panis didn’t quite have enough to find a way past Berthon.

Berthon, who had claimed pole with a dominant performance in qualifying, held on to take his first win of the season just 0.577s ahead of Panis.

After a strong qualifying performance, Christophe Ferrier fell behind Yann Ehrlacher on the opening lap. While Ehrlacher went on to take P3, Ferrier continued to struggle and slipped to the back of the grid before retiring on lap three.

The next closest battle came from Olivier Pernaut and Dorian Boccolacci. Boccolacci started from the back of the grid but made good progress. He was closing in on Pernaut in the final laps but finished just under two seconds behind him in P5.

Sylvian Pussier completed the order.

In the other race of the day, it was a battle between the two DA Racing drivers at the front of the order. An off for Louis Gervoson released Jean-Baptiste Dubourg, allowing him to chase after team-mate Nico Prost. Prost put in a good performance but Dubourg found a way through in the closing laps to take the victory.

Prost came home second ahead of Jeremy Sarhy.
