Formula E returns to Marrakesh

Formula E will return to Marrakesh as the Moroccan city replaces Vancouver on the 2021-22 calendar.

Vancouver was originally scheduled to host the 10th round of the season in early July, but was later cancelled by race organisers.

Marrakesh, which has hosted four E-Prix between 2016 and 2020, will instead take the slot. The race will be held on July 2nd.

The race will once again be held in the Agdal district of the city, on the same circuit that has hosted previous iterations of the Marrakesh E-Prix. It was first used in 2016, when Sebastien Buemi took the victory. Felix Rosenqvist and Jerome d’Ambrosio then took successive victories at the circuit in 2018 and 19, making Mahindra the only team to have won twice at the track. Antonio Felix Da Costa won the latest iteration of the race, beating Maximilian Guenther to the victory in 2020.

The addition of the Morrocan race brings the season back to 16 races, making it the longest Formula E calendar to date.
