Porsche to become Andretti supplier in 2023

Andretti will be supplied by Porsche from the start of the Gen3 era of Formula E after signing a “long-term” agreement with the German manufacturer.

From the start of Season 9, 2022/23, Andretti will be powered by Porsche powertrains which coincides with the start of the Gen3 era of Formula E.

Andretti had been powered by BMW up to and including the 2021/22 campaign despite BMW’s withdrawal from Formula E at the end of the 2020/21 campaign. This partnership began in 2018 although the Andretti team were one of the founding teams of the all-electric championship.

It means Andretti and Porsche will link up together for the first time since 2008 when the late John Andretti ran with Porsche power at the Daytona 24 Hours.

Porsche joined the Formula E grid at the start of the 2019/20 season and 2022/23 will be the first time the Stuttgart-manufacturer have supplied a team in FE. Porsche have claimed one win, courtesy of Pascal Wehrlein, and six podiums with Wehrlein and Andre Lotterer.

“Avalanche Andretti has raced in Formula E since the inaugural 2014 season. For us, it’s a huge vote of confidence that one of the most experienced teams has chosen to work alongside Porsche from Season 9 onwards and wants to field two Porsche 99X Electric racers.

“Porsche and Andretti are united by a long tradition, and it all started when Mario and Michael made their Le Mans debuts in a Porsche 956 in 1983. We’re delighted that the tradition is continuing in Formula E, and we hope our partnership will be just as successful.”
