Andrea PerilliXITE Energy Racing has announced a new lineup consisting of Timo Scheider and Tamara Molinaro.
The new pair with replace Oliver Bennett and Klara Andersson at the wheel of the Odyssey 21. XITE Energy currently sits sixth in the standings, having collected eight points in the championship
Germany’s Scheider played a key role in the development of the series by providing his insight into the design of the race courses. He has a vast experience in motorsports, having competed in DTM, Rallycross, and various touring car and endurance competitions.
Molinaro has already partaken in Extreme E this season at the opening Desert X Prix, relacing Klara Andersson. She comes from a rallying background, developing her career in European and worldwide competitions.
Both Molinaro and Scheider have been part of Extreme E as Championship Drivers, an advisory role and stand-in substitutes in case any team may require a replacement for a certain round.
“I was supposed to be doing the course test with the usual ‘test’ car as a Championship driver when I got to Italy, but now I will be travelling to Sardinia as a race driver with XITE Energy Racing! That is a great feeling. I am super-pumped to get out there and show what we are capable of,” commented Scheider.
“I am very happy to be back in Extreme E for Sardinia and it is even more special as it is my home event. I am hopeful that we can have a good race and that we can be competitive,” expressed Molinaro.
“I have a great relationship with Timo – since I became a Championship Driver alongside him I spent a lot of time with him and we often spoke about how cool it would be to be in a team together.”
