Rosberg X Racing takes victory in Sardinia

An overtake in the final instances of the race gave reigning champions Rosberg X Racing the win on Italian soil

The Rosberg X Racing team of Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky had a nail-bitting race finale in Sardinia. After running in second position during the second lap of the race, Ahlin-Kottulinksy overtook ABT’s Jutta Kleinschmidt to take the lead and secure the win.

The ABT team had been leading since the first lap but delays when switching drivers cost them the win. Kleinschmidt could not fully buckle her belt at the time she was off for her run, for which the team was ultimately disqualified at the end of the race.

The Final was not short of drama, as the Acciona Sainz’s car stopped on track during the initial lap with Carlos Sainz Sr at the wheel, suffering suspension issues, which caused the team to drop to the bottom of the standings.

The podium was therefore completed by the X44 team of Sebastien Loeb and Cristina Gutierrez in second position and the Andretti United outfit of Catie Munnings and Hansen in third place.
