Renault e.dams driver Nico Prost has announced today that he will leave the French team at the end of Season 4.
Prost, who has raced in all Formula E races to date, decided to part ways with the team, which will be taken over by Nissan in Season 5.
The Frenchman has three victories to his name in the fully-electric championship, as well as a number of podiums finishes, which has allowed Renault e.dams to clinch the Teams’ Championship in three occasions.
Season 3 and Season 4 have not gone Prost’s way, as Renault struggle to find a good pace during Qualy and the race. A series of misfortunes have also caused Nico retirements over the course of this season.
The 36 year-old is said to be looking at other options for Season 5, while thanking the whole Renault crew for the work they’ve done with him for the last three seasons on his Twitter account.
It is yet unknown who will be Nissan’s drivers in Season 5 and whether current teammate Sébastien Buemi will remain, due to his ongoing contract with Toyota in the World Endurance Championship.
After some great success, @renault_e.dams and I have decided by common agreement that we will part ways at the end of the season. I want to thank the team from my heart for what it has given me. Thanks to all the engineers and mechanics for their hard work and dedication. pic.twitter.com/T8P93YoHyv
