Ferrari junior Fuoco joins Dragon as test and reserve driver

Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco has joined Dragon Racing as the team’s test and reserve driver for the 2018-19 Formula E season.

Fuoco, who is currently seventh in the Formula 2 drivers’ championship, ran with the team during preseason testing. He finished 11th fastest on the third day of testing in Valencia, with his best time of the week putting him 0.337s slower than fellow F2 driver Maximilian Guenther.

The 22-year-old missed out on a full-time season, with Dragon confirming Guenther would race alongside Jose Maria Lopez this season, but he’s still excited to be part of the team.

“I want to drive in the Formula E championship because the level of the drivers and teams are among the highest in all of motorsport,” he said.

“Racing on the streets in the centre of some of the most interesting cities in the world is also a very exciting challenge for me.

“I think the all-new season five Formula E format is very intriduing, and the Gen2 Penske EV-3 not only looks cool but is very challenging to drive. I enjoy this challenge. It is a lot of fun.”

Dragon also today announced a multiyear strategic alliance with GEOX, with the shoe company becoming Dragon’s title sponsor.
