NIO give Chadwick second Formula E test outing

British Formula 3 race winner Jamie Chadwick will complete her second Formula E test outing in the Marrakesh rookie test next week.

Chadwick, who made her FE debut in Saudi Arabia last month, will once again run with NIO.

“I’m thrilled to be jumping back into the NIO Season 5 Formula E car at the official rookie test event in Marrakesh,” she said.

“I loved every minute of the first test in Riyadh and now I am acclimatised to the car, I am confident we can have a successful test.”

Chadwick was one of 10 non-regular drivers and nine female drivers to compete in the Ad Diriyah test. A technical fault limited her running in the test, but she still managed to finish 20th overall in the combined timings and fifth quickest of the non-regular drivers.

NIO team principal Gerry Hughes is hoping Chadwick will make progress in her second day in the car.

“After a somewhat reduced test event programme in Saudi Arabia due to a technical issue beyond our control, I am obviously very pleased to extend the opportunity for Jamie to test with us once again,” he said.

“This is obviously a case of ‘same car, different testing environment’ but one that I know that she will relish and it will be very interesting to witness her progress during the day.”

The rookie test will take place the day after the Marrakesh E-Prix, on January 13th.

Chadwick is the third driver to be confirmed for the test, with Mahindra announcing Sergey Sirotkin today and Audi confirming DTM racer Jamie Green last month.
