Panis victorious, Dubourg leaves Val Thorens on top

Aurelien Panis claimed a commanding victory in the second race of the 2021-22 Andros eTrophy season.

The Sainteloc Racing driver got a good start from pole but had Yann Ehrlacher close behind through the first half of the race. Panis was slowly able to edge away from Ehrlacher and at one point had a gap of almost two seconds.

Panis would cross the line 1.897s ahead of Ehrlacher to take his first win of the season.

Berthon caught Ehrlacher late on but couldn’t find a way through and finished third overall ahead of race one winner JB Dubourg and Dorian Boccolacci.

Romain Grosjean, appearing in his first Super Final of the season, got a poor get away that cost him roughly 10 seconds. He was able to climb back to take sixth after Christophe Ferrier fell backwards.

In the Final, it was a comfortable lights to flag victory for Nico Prost. Olivier Panis was close behind in the opening laps but braked for a corner too early and became stuck, allowing Prost to escape up the road.

Panis would only loose one position, to Olivier Pernaut in the M Racing car. Pernaut couldn’t close the gap to Prost and finished 4.5s back. Panis held off Louis Gervoson to finish inside the top three.

Dubourg leaves Val Thorens leading the championship by five points after a difficult opening day of the weekend for Aurelien Panis.
