Da Costa joins Wehrlein at Porsche for 2022-23 season

Antonio Felix Da Costa joins Porsche for the 2022-23 Formula E season.

The Season 6 champion makes the move from DS Techeetah, who is yet to announce their Season 9 line-up, but have reiterated their commitment to the championship.

Da Costa joins Porsche with seven victories, including three in his championship winning season. His most recent win came in New York, where he beat Lucas Di Grassi to the win in the opening race of the double header.

“It’s like a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to cracking on and winning races for this team,” said Da Costa.

“I’ve been beaten by a Porsche many times in my career, and not only in Formula E, so I know that Porsche does everything to win. It’s in the brand’s DNA. I share the same ambition and can hardly wait to bond with the team and work together to ensure a successful start to the Gen 3 era.”

As well as Formula E, Da Costa comes to Porsche with experience in a variety of other categories. He has two Macau Grand Prix victories and in June was first in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His Jota Sport team currently leads the World Endurance Championship standings for the LMP2 class.

“I’m delighted that Antonio is coming on board,” said Porsche Motorsport vice president Thomas Laudenbach. “He has an incredible skill set as a racing driver and has demonstrated many times that he’s a winner, not only in Formula E.

“We hold him in high regard as a driver and on his own merits as a person. He’s a positive guy who is a great fit for us and the Porsche Motorsport family.

“I’m confident that we’ll fight for victories and titles together for years to come.”

Da Costa will join Pascal Wehrlein at Porsche. He replaces Andre Lotterer, who also joined Porsche from Techeetah, and is expected to remain in Formula E next season.
