Boccolacci takes third Andros win of the season

Dorian Boccolacci narrows the gap to Aurelien Panis in the 2022-23 Andros eTrophy with another victory at Isola 2000.

The Sebastien Loeb Racing driver secured his third win of the season, and second win of the weekend, ahead of Nathaneal Berthon.

After starting from pole, Boccolacci came under pressure from Berthon early on. He managed to shake off the SP Competition driver over the course of the five-lap race, and was two second ahead by the chequered flag.

Meanwhile, Berthon was under attack from Jean-Baptiste Dubourg. Dubourg pushed for a way past from the opening lap, and the pair were only seperated by a few inches on track. Berthon put in a faultless drive, denying Debourg the opportunity for second, and finished 0.6s ahead of the reigning champion.

Behind them, Yann Ehrlacher held off Olivier Pernaut to take fourth while Yvan Muller finished sixth.

In the second final, Aurelien Panis held off Christophe Ferrier to take the win and minimise the damage done from a difficult qualifying session. A mistake in the closing stages of the race meant Ferrier made contact with one of the snow banks, but the DRP driver managed to get away with minor damage.

The same couldn’t be said for Adrian Tambay. Tambay and Ferrier had been fighting on the opening lap when Tambay span, causing significant body work damage to the front and rear of his car and leaving bodywork in the snow.

Anthony Pelfrene came through to take third ahead of Jamie Clairet.

With only three rounds remaining, Panis lies 20 points ahead of Boccolacci in the championship standings, with Dubourg a further two points back.
