Fittipaldi and di Resta join Jaguar for rookie test

Jaguar Racing will field Pietro Fittipaldi and Paul di Resta in the Marrakesh rookie test later this month.

The pair join the likes of Maximilian Gunther and Nico Muller for Formula E’s first ever rookie test which gives drivers without an e-license a chance to run the electric racers.

Fittipaldi, a close friend of Jaguar regular Nelson Piquet Jnr, previously told Just Electric the test would be an amazing opportunity.

It comes off the back of a successful Formula V8 3.5 season, where he took the title by x points. He follows in the footsteps of 2016 champion Tom Dillman, who made his FE debut in Paris last season.

“I have always followed Formula E closely since the first tests with the car at Donington,” Fittipaldi said.

“So I am really looking forward to driving the car and with Jaguar’s heritage in racing it is a very special privilege.”

Ex-Formula 1 racer di Resta will be behind the wheel of Jaguar’s second I-Type II. The 31-year-old spent three years racing in F1, taking 12th in the championship in 2013. After a one off appearance in 2017, he is one of the drivers linked to the second Williams Formula 1 seat, vacated by Felipe Massa at the end of last year.

Massa had previously tested with Jaguar before the start of the 2017 F1 season.
