Lucas di Grassi topped a disrupted second practice session by half a second at the Punta del Este ePrix.
The reigning champion set a 1:13.672 on a 200kW lap to top the timesheets, ahead of DS Virgin’s Sam Bird and Jaguar’s Mitch Evans.
There was a red flag during the session after Andretti’s Tom Blomqvist crashed at the Turn 10/11 chicane.
The British driver appeared to hit the wall on the exit of Turn 9. Then, at the chicane, he hit the sausage kerb before his car spun with the rear hitting the wall.
The rear left wheel seemed to drag along the wall, causing damage to the back of the car.
Di Grassi set his 200kW lap after the red flag although some drivers opted to go straight into a qualifying lap at the start of the session.
It meant that drivers such as Season 2 champion Sebastien Buemi set a lap time that was compromised by traffic.
Behind the front three of Di Grassi, Bird and Evans were NIO’s Oliver Turvey and Renault e.Dams’ Nico Prost.
Championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne was sixth, ahead of Edoardo Mortara, Nick Heidfeld and Blomqvist.
Buemi’s early 200kW was his best lap of the session, putting him in 11th, ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa, Luca Filippi, Jerome d’Ambrosio and Maro Engel.
Nelson Piquet was 16th although he also did not set a representative lap time, his car attempting to slide away from him at the final corner.
Daniel Abt, Andre Lotterer, Jose Maria Lopez and Felix Rosenqvist rounded out the order.
