Engel hopeful for good results in Rome: “We have a car that’s capable”

Venturi’s Maro Engel scored points for the second time this season at Punta Del Este, but was disappointed by the result after having started the race from P8.

The German driver scored his first points since Marrakesh in Uruguay but despite qualifying well, he could not improve his seventh place finish from Hong Kong.

“We were hoping for more, to be honest after qualifying P8 which was a strong qualifying from group 1 I think”, he said.

“We were hoping for more but our race pace simply wasn’t quite as good as we were hoping and our pitstop, in the end, was too slow. We lost a good five seconds in the pitstop”, commented Engel.

The 32 year old from Munich was, however, feeling confident about his chances for the upcoming round in Rome at the Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR for the inaugural Rome ePrix in April and reckons that another points finish is an achievable goal

“Definitely. That’ll be our aim. You know, we have a car that’s capable”.

Venturi are currently sitting in P7 in the Teams’ Standings. Despite the drivers struggling to be in the Top 10 in some races, the team have been showing a stronger consistency and pace, which have allowed them to score valuable points.

Now they head to Europe, for the second half of the season, where Engel and his team aim to continue improving, in order to score points more regularly, and climb higher in the standings.
