Formula E will be returning to Mainland China with the series visiting Sanya.
The Sanya E-Prix will be the first time the series has visited the Chinese Mainland since the Beijing E-Prix in Season 2.
Sanya is a city in Hainan Province in southeastern China and on the shoreline of the South China Sea.
Formula E founder and CEO Alejandro Agag commented on the importance of having a race in Mainland China saying: “Bringing the ABB FIA Formula E Championship back to Mainland China is an important step in a key territory for the series and a market that’s instrumental to the continued development and uptake of electric vehicles globally.”
When asked about his thoughts on Sanya being the city hosting the race, he added: “Sanya is an idyllic setting for a Formula E race – not just with the stunning views on the shores of the South China Sea – but for the ongoing efforts of Hainan in the field of electric mobility, which has led to Sanya boasting the best air quality of any city in China.”
