Evans continues strong form to top FP2 in Paris

Rome E-Prix race winner Mitch Evans topped the second free practice session for Jaguar Racing around the streets of Paris, a tenth of a second ahead of Oliver Rowland.

On a rapidly drying track, the times tumbled as the session went on; with the likes of Rowland (Nissan e.dams), Antonio Felix da Costa (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) and DS Techeetah duo Jean-Eric Vergne and Andre Lotterer all topping the timesheets early on.

After a brief yellow flag for debris, the session resumed and the times continued to improve, with Evans, Sebastien Buemi (Nissan), Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt (both Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler) all taking turns at the top.

With just a few minutes to go, Lotterer – who had already topped FP1 earlier in the morning – went to the top with a 250kW lap.

Jose Maria Lopez (Dragon Racing) was pushing hard to beat Lotterer’s time, but hit the wall, as did Andretti’s Alexander Sims.

With just a few minutes left in the session, it was New Zealander Evans who topped the times, and he would keep that spot until the end of the session.

Rowland was second ahead of di Grassi, with Lotterer and Buemi completing the top five.

Next up were Abt, Vergne, da Costa, championship leader Jerome d’Ambrosio (Mahindra Racing) and Stoffel Vandoorne (HWA Racelab).

At the bottom of the timesheets, Sam Bird – who had crashed in FP1 and damaged his Envision Virgin Racing car – was not able to set a time, and thus has not yet run a timed lap in dry conditions in the Gen2 car around the streets of Paris.

Qualifying gets underway at 11:45 local time.
