Zaccone takes maiden win as Granado crashes

Alessandro Zaccone won his first MotoE race with a measured ride after Eric Granado crashed out of the lead.

After dominating all weekend and setting a new lap record on lap 3, Granado made a mistake and crashed on the fourth lap at Turn 6, eventually finishing 13th.

Zaccone had started fifth and worked his way up to second place by the end of lap one and he capitalised on Granado’s mistake.

Luka Tulovic, who started second, also crashed out of the race following contact with Fermin Aldeguer on the second lap, also at Turn 6.

Dominique Aegerter finished second whilst Jordi Torres started his title defence with third place.

Mattia Casadei finished fourth with Miquel Pons coming home in fifth and Matteo Ferrari making an impressive comeback from last to finish sixth.

Hikari Okubo, Andrea Mantovani, Maria Herrera, and Yonny Hernandez rounded out the top 10.

Jasper Iwema, Andre Pires, Granado and Kevin Zannoni were the last finishers, Zanonni having also crashed on the first lap after a clash with Corentin Perolari.

Xavi Cardelus was the other retirement from the race following a crash at Turn 10 on lap 4.
