Jaguar fastest again in FP2 courtesy of Evans

Jaguar topped the timesheets again but with the positions reversed as Mitch Evans was ahead of Sam Bird at the end of the second practice session.

With the circuit looking resplendent in the morning sunshine, Evans’ 1m31.118 on full power at the end of the session was the time to beat with Bird 0.185s behind.

Antonio Felix Da Costa was third fastest for DS Techeetah with Andre Lotterer fourth quickest for Porsche and Oliver Rowland was fifth for Nissan e.dams.

Robin Frijns was sixth for Envision Virgin Racing ahead of Venturi Racing’s Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries for Mercedes.

The top ten was rounded out by Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein and DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne, with Vergne having locked up early on at the Nouvelle Chicane.

There was an incident at the end of the session where Norman Nato was trying to make it into the pits while Virgin’s Nick Cassidy took avoiding action, the pair both getting loose on the exit of the corner. However, after a brief investigation, the stewards decreed that there would be no further action.
