Rookie Aldeguer fastest in final Barcelona practice

Fermin Aldeguer set the pace in the final free practice session ahead of qualifying for the MotoE race in Catalunya.

The 16-year-old topped the times early in the session with a time most of the field couldn’t get within three tenths of.

A later improvement lowered the benchmark to 1m50.399s.

Eric Granado jumped up the order late in the session to go within a tenth of a second of the Alderguer’s best time, but it wasn’t enough to knock him off the top sport.

Lukas Tulovic took third ahead of Jordi Torres, who spent most of the session running second but could only manage a lap 0.313s slower than Aldeguer.

Yonny Hernandez set the pace after the first round of laps but dropped down to fifth as others found improvements. Miquel Pons and Dominique Aegerter took sixth and seventh.

Championship leader Alessandro Zaccone had another difficult session, only managing to put himself 10th overall, while P2 in the championship Mattia Casadei finished eighth, just ahead of Hikari Okubo.
