Lance Woolridge replaces Sarrazin at Veloce

South African Cross Country racer Lance Woolridge will replace Stephan Sarrazin at Veloce Racing for the final round of the 2021 Extreme E season.

Sarrazin, who raced with the team in the previous five rounds of the inaugural championship, is believed to have parted ways with Veloce after race ending incidents in Greenland and Sardinia.

His replacement will be the South African Cross Country Series runner-up Woolridge, who has been the Veloce reserve and development driver alongside his SACCS commitments.

He is joined by Jamie Chadwick as she returns to the series following her W Series title winning campaign.

“I think I can speak for everyone at Veloce when I say we’re really excited to have two such talented drivers behind the wheel for the Extreme E season finale – and our homr race – in Dorset later this month,” said Veloce Racing team principal Rupert Svendsen-Cook.

“Lance has been doing a fantastic job as our reserve and development driver this season as well as having a great year racing in South Africa, so we’re delighted to give him this chance. Than, of course, we welcome back Jamie, who won Veloce’s first ever title in the W Series back in Austin last month. After what has been a year of intense development for the team, we are well placed to end our season on the right note.”

Team manager Ian Davies added: “We’ve been hugely impressed with the work Lance has done for us this year. He’s been a huge asset to the team, so we have total confidence in his abilities ahead of Dorset.

“Likewise, Jamie has had an incredible year in W Series and scored our first podium in Senegal, let’s not forget, so she certainly knows her way around the Odyssey 21. Together, these two drivers are going to be a potent combination.”

Veloce currently lies eighth in the championship standings with a podium in Senegal placing the team five points ahead of the Xcite Energy Team. The team is only three points away from Chip Ganassi Racing.
