Boccolacci wins Andros opener

Dorian Boccolacci converts pole position into the victory in the opening Andos eTrophy race of the season.

The Sebastien Loeb Racing driver controlled the race from start to finish and ends day one of the 2022-23 season top of the standings.

Nathaneal Berthon put Boccolacci under pressure early on but a few wide moments dropped him off the race leader’s tail. He was gaining on

Boccolacci when a mistake in the final laps brought him to a stop. He was able to get going again before the battle for P3 arrived, but finished more than four seconds behind Boccolacci.

Yvan Muller spent most of the race in third but with Aurelien Panis close behind. The pair had been promoted up a position when Jean-Baptiste Dubourg made a mistake on the opening lap. Panis was able to get alongside Muller multiple times, only for Muller to just be ahead by the next corner. Panis’ hard work paid off and he managed to get ahead of Muller, only for the M Racing driver to get back past at the next corner. Panis again managed to get through the following corner and held on until the chequered flag.

The battle allowed Dubourg to close back in on the pair and the DA Racing driver passed Muller late on for fourth.
Olivier Pernaut took sixth.

In the Final, Anthony Pelfrene took the victory after a race long battle to stay ahead of Yann Ehrlacher. Ehrlacher pushed hard and managed to get up the inside of Pelfrene on one occasion but Pelfrene was able to get back ahead by the next corner. Sebastien Loeb took third.

Boccolacci ends the day top of the standings with 65 points. Berthon is two points back in P2, with Dubourg a further five points back in third.
