Mercedes/HWA DTM driver Daniel Juncadella has joined HWA Racelab as their test and reserve driver for the upcoming Formula E season.
Juncadella tested on the third day of testing at Valencia when Stoffel Vandoorne was participating in free practice for the United States Grand Prix.
He has also competed in the rookie test held for the first time in Marrakesh in Season 4.
“I’m very grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to continue our long-standing collaboration through Formula E,” said Daniel.
“Formula E is a new adventure for all of us. The team have a steep learning curve in prospect and can use all the support they can get. Hopefully, I can help Gary [Paffett], Stoffel and the engineers master the challenge in my new role.
“My first test with the new Gen2 car was a great experience. I found my feet in the team right away and can’t wait to see how we will fare on our Formula E debut. But before then, we still have plenty to do.”
Juncadella’s recent experience with single-seaters is limited to the two tests in Formula E, although the 27-year-old from Barcelona has won the Formula 3 Euroseries and FIA European F3 Championship as well as the Macau Grand Prix.
