Vergne tops final in-season FE test

Reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne topped the final collective test which was held after the Mexico City E-Prix.

Vergne improved his time in the latter stages of the afternoon session, one of several drivers to do so.

DS Techeetah’s Vergne posted a time of 58.775s in the afternoon session to set the fastest overall time of the test.

He pipped HWA Racelab’s Stoffel Vandoorne by 0.042s.

Pascal Wehrlein, who led all but the final few metres of Saturday’s E-Prix, was third fastest overall in his Mahindra Racing car.

Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler duo Daniel Abt and Mexico City race winner Lucas di Grassi topped the morning session ahead of Venturi’s Felipe Massa.

Raffaele Marciello, who replaced Jose Maria Lopez at Dragon Racing for the afternoon session, set the 17th best time of that session – 0.050s behind recent debutant and Dragon team-mate Felipe Nasr.

Championship leader Jerome d’Ambrosio (Mahindra) was 21st in the morning session and 20th in the afternoon session.

On both occasions he lapped above the 60s mark.
