Guenther to test for BMW in Spain

Maximilian Guenther has been given a BMW i Andretti Motorsport test as the German outfit prepares for Season 6 of Formula E.

The 2019/20 season will be BMW’s second season as a works outfit, although they have been technical partners with Andretti for longer.

The outfit will be testing at Circuit Calafat in Spain with 2018/19 Dragon Racing driver Guenther testing alongside last season’s BMW driver Alexander Sims.

The 22-year-old competed in all but three races last season for Dragon, and scored 20 of the team’s 23 points as he beat experienced team-mate Jose Maria Lopez in the standings.

His points came in two races last season after fifth placed finishes in Paris and Bern respectively.

Guenther’s first experience of single seater racing came in the 2011 Formula BMW Talent Cup, BMW’s talent programme at the time.

He has also competed in Formula 3 and Formula 2 in his career, taking one win in the latter series in his sole season.
