The Abt Cupra and Andretti United teams took victory in the Semi Finals 1 and 2 respectively, earning a spot in today’s Final. Team X44 won the eventful Crazy Race and will also take part in the Final
The driver pair of Nasser Al-Attiyah and Klara Andersson were victorious in the first Semi Final. The team had been penalised in yesterday’s qualifying but were able to still earn a spot in today’s session, where they qualified for the Final.
The German outfit was followed by the Veloce Racing pair of Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor, who also made it to today’s final race of the season.
The second Semi Final was won by the Andretti United pair of Catie Munnings and Timmy Hansen, securing a spot in the Final. In second position came the McLaren duo of Emma Gilmour and Tanner Foust, also making it to the Final.
The Acciona Sainz team, which had had a strong performance in yesterday’s first qualifying session, finished on the bottom of the Semi Final 2 standings after the car rolled during Laia Sanz’s stint, taking them out of contention to be in the last race of the season.
The Crazy Race was no short of action, as Team X44 earned their spot into the Final. Early into the first lap, Team X44 took the lead, gaining distance from runner-ups Xite Energy. During that lap, the JBXE car was out and reigning champions Rosberg X Racing were in trouble as the car sustained damage and lost significant time.
Wheel-to-wheel contact in the switch zone between Team X44 and Xite Energy shortened the gap between both cars and caused the two teams to be under investigation.
